Gomdori is a package design that has dual uses as a travelling comfort kit and a hot bag, specifically targeting children to young adults.

The idea of travelling around a hot bag or stuffed animal is inconvenient. The Gomdori is a package designed with the mindset to make the experience of being away from home more comfortable. Targeting a youthful audience, the idea was to transform the old image of water filled, rubber hot bags into something familiar, fun and playful by designing it to look like a teddy bear, or in Korean, "gomdori."

The Gomdori package contains a bag of beans, four tea bags, two scented bottles, a sleeping mask and a pouch of eight ibuprofen tablets. The aim of the kit is to aid in comfort and relaxation in moments of stress of pain, and the items are themed accordingly:

The teabags are coined as “tea-mometers,” and resemble thermometers, and the case for the tablets are “pill-ows,” resembling pillow cases. The bottles mimic the shape of fish and the name “scent-sun” is another wordplay made from the Korean word “saeng-sun” which directly translates to “fish”. By experimenting with the appearance of the products, it creates a fun and unique experience for the user to discover their purposes.

The bag of dry beans is to be emptied into the bear and heated in a microwave, transforming the Gomdori into a hot bag. The instructions are printed on the fabric, instructing the user on how to use the package to it’s fullest potential.

The elongated design of Gomdori makes it ergonomically more comfortable for the user to drape it across their body in comparison to the typical hot bag. The unique character designs the package comes in is meant to create a connection with the user, complimenting and enforcing Gomdori's image of total comfort.
